Just to let you know, we are trying to raise the awareness of
FreeGIS within the Free Software Community with talks and articles.

The FreeGIS projects was mentioned in the GNU Brave World in the GRASS=20
GIS part:

| If you're into this topic, you might also want to check out the FreeGIS
| [11] project which wants to collect and coordinate Free Software in this
| area.

An articles about FreeGIS is published in the Linux Magazin 07/2000,
page 89. This issue hit the newsstands already, www.linuxmagazine.de
is a German Linux magazin. (Disclosure: I am the author of the article.)

There are two talks about FreeGIS, which I will give in the next weeks:

At the Global Linux 2000 conference in Seoul, Korea (from 14-17 June).
	http://www.globallinux2000.com/ =20
(Note: The English schedule on the web is not complete at time of writing.)
The talk will be in English.

At the Linuxtag in Stuttgart, Germany on the booth of ID-Pro,
Saturday 1st of July 2000 in the afternoon. Language is German here
(depending on the audience).

Most people still do not know about the relevance of GIS technology and
all its applications. Hopefully the FreeGIS project helps educating the
public that this is not just a computer tools for specialists.

Cheers,
	Bernhard
