Is localization possible with utf-8 opentype font now. If not we can convert the text into ascii based code and corresponding ttf font. Is it possible to include such a font and direct the text display to be in such font. We intend to do this both in tcltkgrass GUI as well as displays in monitors. , if necessary in that order. regards Jitendra Quoting mapit-request at intevation.de: > > ----- Original message from mapit-request at intevation.de ----- > Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2005 12:00:04 +0100 (CET) > From: mapit-request at intevation.de > Reply-To: mapit at intevation.de > Subject: Mapit Digest, Vol 6, Issue 1 > To: mapit at intevation.de > > Send Mapit mailing list submissions to > mapit at intevation.de > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://intevation.de/mailman/listinfo/mapit > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > mapit-request at intevation.de > > You can reach the person managing the list at > mapit-owner at intevation.de > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Mapit digest..." > --------------------------------------------------------------- This mail is sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ Used as the Webmail Interface at C-DAC, Mumbai: http://www.ncst.ernet.in From jan at intevation.de Wed Jan 26 13:04:37 2005 From: jan at intevation.de (Jan-Oliver Wagner) Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2005 13:04:37 +0100 Subject: [Mapit] plotting routes In-Reply-To: <20050124035140.67402.qmail@web54308.mail.yahoo.com> References: <20050124035140.67402.qmail@web54308.mail.yahoo.com> Message-ID: <20050126120437.GA6198@intevation.de> Hi, On Sun, Jan 23, 2005 at 07:51:40PM -0800, SOL ZADEH wrote: > This is my first email & I am new to GIS programming > so please excuse my naive questions!! > > with regards to Mapit > 1- How do I scan new maps (street maps) ? you mean from paper? For that you need a GIS system that allows geo-referencing capabilities. GRASS [1] is a dood choice. > 2- How do I plot street routes on a map using series > of Lons/Lats. you mean line data? MapIt! supports only point symbols. You might want to try UMN MapServer. > Finally how does Mapit compare to MapServer UMN MapServer support (among other many other things) handling of vector data while MapIt! is designed for raster maps and point symbols only.
