For more dynamic web mapping (as you are asking for) I suggest (and use) the UMN Mapserver: http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu Regards, Frank -- Frank Koormann Professional Service around Free Software (http://intevation.net/) FreeGIS Project (http://freegis.org/) From jan at intevation.de Thu Feb 14 18:28:12 2002 From: jan at intevation.de (Jan-Oliver Wagner) Date: Thu, 14 Feb 2002 18:28:12 +0100 Subject: [Mapit] data used by Mapit In-Reply-To: <20020214163925.GA22285@intevation.de> References: <20020214163925.GA22285@intevation.de> Message-ID: <20020214172812.GA22615@intevation.de> On Thu, Feb 14, 2002 at 05:39:26PM +0100, Frank Koormann wrote: > * Ariadna Cecilia Ruiz Gurrola (Tesista) (acrg at cenapred.unam.mx) [020214 17:33]: > > Hi, i have a question....can i integrate shp files (shape files from ESRI) > > to Mapit?, i mean use them to make zooms, add layers, and so forth. > > MapIt! was designed to easily integrate mapping based on pre-rendered > maps for different zoom levels into websites. this basically means that MapIt! is using raster data. Thus, if you have a way to generate rastermaps out of your vector data you can apply MapIt! for your task. However, it seem your requirements call for a more complex software, e.g. MapServer.
