[Freegis-list] NCAR Graphics license possibly changes

Dear list,

I have contacted the development team of NCAR Graphics
to raise the issue of their license.

Mary Haley answered that they are actually looking for
a new license that will make the software friendly Open Source.
They will now review some OSI certified licenses to find
out which is the best for their purpose.
That might take a while, because it is planned to 
release further software by that group as Open Source
under the same license.

Once, a clear license is available, all tools build
on NCAR Graphics know where they stand and it can make
sense to release their code as Open Source as well.
